17th March 2024 – „What are you passionate about?“

„What are you passionate about?“

Lots of things, actually.
I’m passionate about the way the sun sets behind the mountains just perfectly to illuminate the entirely valley I live in and how the last rays of sunshine have a tendency to blind me, yet fill me with happiness the same
I’m passionate about the way music makes my body tingle, my blood jump, my cells vibrate and forces a smile onto my lips every time a particularly heavy bass scratches that weird itchy spot inside my skull
I’m passionate about poetry and how female poets especially seem to hit a certain note in the depth of my heart that strums familiarity, a bullet locked in on target and that little huff that escapes my mouth whenever their words resonate perfectly with that restless soul of mine

I’m passionate about writing, about reading, about the lines in between and the secrets hidden underneath a certain choice of words. I’m passionate about knowledge, wanting to expand it constantly, about everything and everyone. I would happily be able to recite entire biographies of people that have intrigued me, parts of history so horrific you are morally bound to remember and recall and recite, or facts so surreal you’d have to double, triple, or quadruple check them for authenticity.
I’m passionate about friendships, I’m passionate about love, about feeling life deeply and finding harmony in the spaces left behind. Passion to me, means living life to the fullest. It means embracing everything and every day as it comes, laugh at it with open arms, welcome home my friend. It means being swept away by a raging river, it means watching your own body burn with pain, it means tingling fingertips, a quick tongue, thoughts swiftly jumping from A to J to F and you keep following.

I’m passionate about creativity, seeing the world in a different light, breathing in the air a little deeper than before, staring at the grass for a little too long and having the clouds blur before your eyes because you forgot to blink.
I’m passionate about language, the concept of understanding or misunderstanding or not understanding, how a single undertone can make and break your day, how a question can become an answer, how you can mess up entire relationships by only using one language when you should have used plenty.

My passion won’t get me anywhere in life though, it seems. You can’t make money from simply listening and learning (or at least I haven’t found that job posting yet), although I wish I could. Let me take all the knowledge in the world and let me have its wonder, it’s joy, it’s generosity.

The question remains though. What are you passionate about?
